Tablets and Media

Tablets like the iPad from Apple and the wave of Android tabs have started taking a real chunk out of the market space for computers. Some people believe that these touchscreen slates are the way of the future and will rid us of laptops and desktops entirely. I don't think that will happen, at least anytime soon, but lets look at some of the things tablets do better.

Many Apple products are used for media whether it be the iPod with music or the Macbook for videos and more. The iPad is no exception to this rule and has become readily used by musicians and artists alike. Artists and other designers find tablets and touchscreens useful for a more natural designing process. Imagine trying to draw the mona lisa with a mouse? It is more natural to design with ones fingers than with a mouse more often than not.  Moving around photos and movie clips is a lot more interesting and easier as well.

Tablets are great for some things but surely there must be downsides, and there certainly are. When it comes to pinpoint accuracy and delicate operations the mouse is still on top. Tablets are unfortunately still not that accurate but that is mainly due to our stubby fingers. A stylus can help with these issues though. Another main issue is that laptops and desktops still have more processing power than their ultra portable cousins. This is a major issue when doing things like video editing.

Do you think tablets will outsale computers anytime soon? Why or why not? Leave your comments down below and as always have a great day!?
